Concept:
While we are using this blog as a way to keep our design flow up, it is also acting as a recording platform for us. For me, the ultimate recording device, that keeps track of everything without being asked to, is a black box. Much like black boxes from planes as well, this site might never be accessed, except if something or someone blows up (and I mean that in the best way).
black box
n.
A device or theoretical construct with known or specified performance characteristics but unknown or unspecified constituents and means of operation.
Something that is mysterious, especially as to function.
See flight recorder.

i like the concept and the meaning behind it. maybe spell it differently to make it unique? like Blk Bx? or #000000 <div>? also, have you tried sans-serif?
and this is for later on, but what if for this identity, we use everything BUT black. of course, if we ever print our logo out for whatever reason (stickers, paraphernalia, etc.) and it has to be black & white, then it's a different story.
thanks val for posting. i on the other hand am uber stressed on school, work, and extra-curricular stuff until the end of next week. i'll make an effort to contribute once i'm temporarily de-stressed.
yay for completely new idea.
i like the concept as well.
i'll just comment about typography.
your letterspacing (or tracking, i guess) is too much for all of em. borrowing words from the Lupton book, "...lowercase letters respond less favorably to letterspacing because they are designed to sit together intimately on a line". i think we see that with the word "collective" because the letters looks disconnected and hard to read as a unit/word.
i think the leading on the 3rd one is not working because the space above "society" is tighter than the other spaces above (like the "i" is almost touching the "X"). also, aligning text is difficult with serif typefaces because it has irregular slabs sticking out and stuff.. your life would be much easier if you use san-serifs that are built for more of that grid type layout.
