Concept:
While we are using this blog as a way to keep our design flow up, it is also acting as a recording platform for us. For me, the ultimate recording device, that keeps track of everything without being asked to, is a black box. Much like black boxes from planes as well, this site might never be accessed, except if something or someone blows up (and I mean that in the best way).

black box
n.
A device or theoretical construct with known or specified performance characteristics but unknown or unspecified constituents and means of operation.
Something that is mysterious, especially as to function.
See flight recorder.

DESIGN TIME!!!!

So if we are going to be a group, it might be nice to have a name, right.......

First project! Create an idenitity for our design group. Business cards? Brochures? (I'm thinking stickers). Are we Davis Design? HappyHour Inc? Those Werdio's from Walker? Whatever you want it to be called, whatever you want to make!

Let's shot for final submissions to be by the 22nd. Upload your stuff onto your blog and we can all see which ones we like best and which ones could be used as a group name.

Good luck!

Those who are recent graduates, such as myself, will most likely be out looking for work. The problem: you need experience to get experience, and you need to have connections to make any new ones. My solution? We, the designers of UC Davis, make our own design group. Why? This way we'll have a cool name to put on our resumes as a group we are a part of, as well as be able to make new piece with one another (and be able to keep in touch). These projects would just be for fun as a way to stay creative. Every four weeks or so a new topic will be posted ( and of course anyone can think of the topic) and it will be up to everyone to design a piece based on the topic. you could make a poster, plates, stickers, websites, bussiness cards, or whatever!

To do this, at the ever wise Kaz's suggestion, we all make blogs where we can post our new work and be able to link to one another. That way we won't need one person to update a website all the time. Once things get under way we can make a central blog that list the new project ideas and what not.

Wanna do it?

No, not that it, this design it.

E-mail me and we'll get a list going. Sam, Joanne, and Kaz had already thrown their hats in the ring. All are welcome, the more the merrier. My new e-mail is vamurphy@gmail.com
